Akin Ajayi
Akin is a Fintech enthusiast and top performing digital payment expert with 2 decades extensive cross-functional experience in delivering value-oriented cards and digital payment services in the Banking and Payment industries in SSA.
His current role in Mastercard as the Business Development Lead, Fintech and Enabler across Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EEMEA) has helped in creating an enabling environment for Fintech partnerships, fostering growth and development that can stand the test of time.
Prior to this role, Akin has helped in providing strategic direction to the Mastercard payment acceptance division, developed and managed relationships with key Fintech stakeholders with the objective of sustaining and growing the company’s market share in East and West Africa.
He has also worked as the Group Head of Acceptance in a Pan-Africa Bank with presence in over 18 countries as at then.
He has been part of various digital innovation and development in Nigeria. For instance, he played an active role in the formation of real-time card as a payment on POS terminals in Nigeria, creation of fast-track cash withdrawal leveraging POS at bank branches, implementation of value-added services on ATMs among others.
Akin is happily married with 3 children and a chess game lover.
